Joshua wasn’t thrilled with the idea of a photo session, but he did like the idea of bikes and baseballs… throwing them, riding them, and just playing- which made this photo shoot very fun!

The lighting was perfect. The area was perfect. We had everything set up for a great shoot. Except that when shooting toddlers, things don’t always go perfect… but we couldn’t have asked for a more fun and interesting shoot! We were able to capture some great personality shots that really show who Joshua is!

Jeri & Brian found love at last and celebrated their union with a simple midday wedding at Red Rock, close to the location of their favorite hiking trails. The scenery was a perfect compliment to the small cozy feeling.

The weather was beautiful the November afternoon Jeri & Brian chose for their simple ceremony, the sky was a crisp blue and the mountains were a wonderful backdrop for them.

I also love taking pictures in the rain. Rainy day pictures are so fun. They are captured in moments of real life, when the world is fresh and new; when there is nothing else in the world but you and the camera because the rain blocks everything else out. There is no other moment, there is no other time- only now, only this moment. This kiss, this smile, this laugh. Captured forever in the lens. That is my favorite part of rainy day photography.

Unfortunately, in the great city of Las Vegas we have lots of sun and very little rain. So planning a rainy day shoot is very difficult. I also find it difficult to find someone willing to get crazy and wet out in the rain with me and the camera. So, alas most of my rainy day photography dreams are just that- dreams… unless someone is willing to be my guinea pig and come play in the rain with me?
I promise it’ll be fun and so worth it!

The gardens provided the perfect backdrop for our beautiful models.

The girls were excited for their trip to the Las Vegas Strip to shoot some photography at the beautiful Bellagio Botanical Gardens. The results were amazing photographs of the girls and a fun shoot!

Watermelons. Water Parks. Water Slides. Back Yard Fun. Base Ball. BBQ’s.

All the fun of summer can be captured in a picture… or two, or three…

The heat can get to us and the fall can be welcoming but lets not forget the fun the summer brought and capture the memories that summer holds- some of my most cherished memories growing up were the ones in the long summer days. Eating ice cream with my friends. The sun staying up until later hours. Pealing tar off the road. Ahhh the memories of heat in Las Vegas! Don’t forget the memories, capture them in photographs before its too late!

Red Rock Canyon. It is located West of the Las Vegas Valley and has amazing areas for hiking and a variety of pictures. Aside from the beautiful red rocks, there are waterfalls, streams, mountainous areas, and desert landscaping where some amazing photographs can be taken. You will have a vast area to decide on the backdrop of your photos.

Mount Charleston. It is located NorthWest of Las Vegas and provides a great backdrop for photos all year long. In the winter and spring you have snow on the mountain and in the summer you have lush greenery and trees, the fall is full of color- all the seasonal colors and expectations missed in the Las Vegas Valley!

The Dry Lake Beds. Located South of Las Vegas, the Dry Lake Beds are very dusty and dry- I wouldn’t recommend this setting for family or child portraits but senior, adult, or couple portraits are gorgeous with this sparse backdrop. Because there is so little in the background, the subject (you) stand out so much more and this setting can make for some really stunning photographs! (Especially if you’re willing to think a little outside of the box.)

The Conservatory At The Bellagio. Located on the strip, this is a gorgeous and ever-changing backdrop for photographs in Las Vegas. It’s an incredible site even without the photographs. They change the gardens throughout the year and for holidays so it’s never the same and is a great place for couples, kids, adults- whomever or whatever your photography needs are!

Nature Discovery Park. (Or Really, any park that you like) I love this park because it has a pond, waterfall, ducks, turtles, trees, big grassy areas- great spaces for taking photos. But any park that you like- that your kids like is good. Parks are an awesome place to get great photographs of kids. It allows for them to run around and expound their natural energy and gives us a chance to get some natural shots of them- that very well may be your favorites!

The most important thing when it comes to choosing a location for your family, couple, or child photography is that you are comfortable with the place. That you are happy with the location- because if you’re not, chances are it’ll show in your photographs. There are tons of great photography ideas for the Las Vegas area, just pick one and lets go!
